Really works. Great for the price (lay towels down though)
Overall: recommended!Pros:It really works! It automatically starts the suctionCons:It's messyIt's slowAs you can see from the photo, it works great!!! I got a bunch of sludge out of the bottom of my aquarium. You can adjust the suction level, too, which is good if you have fine/light gravel (eg most planted tank gravels, I use EcoComplete). I am incapable of starting suction on a low-tech gravel vacuum for some reason, so I NEED an electric gravel vac.Maybe I'm using it wrong, but I got water EVERYWHERE. I have only a 10 gallon, though--if you have a larger tank, you probably won't have this problem. Next time, I'll lay towels down around the tank. It's also pretty slow going, but this isn't necessarily a bad thing. Makes it easy to avoid sucking up your critters (triops, in my case). If you have a HUGE tank, though, it will tank you a while. Also, you may want to buy filter wool/floss media to line the filter bag with. The furry filter bag rinses out pretty well, tbh, but it would be easier and less gross to have a secondary liner in there.I gave it five stars, because it's not perfect, but for the price point, you really can't beat it. If, like me, you can't get suction going on a low-tech vacuum, get this thing! You'll be glad you did :)

Useful gadget with adjustments
This gadget has been a lifesaver for me. I have a pretty deep 45 gallon aquarium. The stages I have been trough:1- Brushing the aquarium, then removing water manually with a saucer, millions of trips to sink and back.2- Got a manual siphon and a 5 gallon bucket. Sweat and hardwork.3- Got this gadget, emptying the water to a bucket. One negative thing, the hose is really short (and remember my aquarium is deep), so lots of water splashes around and carrying 5 gallon of water was really hard for me.4- Finally a solution! I got a long hose (Sealproof 3/8-Inch ID x 1/2-Inch OD Unreinforced PVC - Food Grade Clear Vinyl Tubing, 50 FT https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07D9F878P/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_TmQ7EbN7Z70HT), attached it to this gadget (in the picture, it just fit in really snug). From aquarium to sink. Then for refilling, treated water from the bucket next to sink to back to aquarium. Yes it is slower because of the distance the water needs to travel and the motor is not really strong for this distance but it beats carrying 5 gallon buckets back and forth.

I LOVE this!!! 16 years of keeping a turtle in an aquarium.
Why wasn’t this available 16 years ago?! I love this. My turtle tank gets messy quickly. My 16 yr old turtle is messy. I’ve gone though dozens of aquarium cleaning gadgets and products over the years. I’ve done the siphon vacuum attempts with 3 different products. I’ve spent hundreds, approaching thousands, of dollars trying to find the right way to clean Miss Turltes’ tank. Finally, I found this. Marvelous. Fantastic. I can’t believe a marvelous thing such as this could be so inexpensive! I love it. Some tips: at first, it will seem unwieldy. I got water all over the place. I didn’t like it at first. I learned that the best control was to shorten the device as much as possible. I learned that the filtration bag worked best for cleaning water that went right back into the aquarium. I even added filtration products I had on hand to the bag, such as biofiltration rocks. I learned that the hose attachment was great at removing water from the tank. Cleaning is so EASY! I put the system in the kitchen sink, with the hose attachment into the sink, and run it in clean water with a little rubbing alcohol. It cleans itself! I can’t believe how inexpensive this most awesome thing is!!!!

Reviews were right, how do people use this???
Here I am wondering how people actually use this device. The hose they provide is so short I don’t know how people are able to clean their tank and remove water into a bucket when the hose doesn’t even go 6 inches from the tank when I’m cleaning it. The detritus catcher-bag was why I bought this so I could clean without removing too much water, and it would have helped if the device didn’t suck up all my sand. I couldn’t even clean it without water going everywhere, if you tilt this thing at all while using the ditritus bag the water will end up everywhere, the splashing just made a bigger mess and scared my fish. They need some way to actually divert the water back into the tank instead of just letting it drip out of the bag high above water line. Impossible to use when I can’t get the damn hose in the bucket and no way will this device work with the hose provided. Honestly I’m so disappointed in this thing. What a waste. Suction is good but it gets all my sand too and was just stirring up the tank more than cleaning it.To;dr: Hose is too short to go into any bucket, it sucks up all my sand, and makes a huge mess using detritus bag. Nothing good about this device so far.

Good with a few adjustments
Started using the tune L to clean the tank into the little bag without changing water....USELESS. Had to swith over to the change the water method, water house USELESS. Its a like a straw and very short and flimsy, good thing I had an extra one if not I would've had to go buy one. Size is 5/8 IDOver all it did work with a few minor adjustment. Used my own hose with a screw clip and also didnt use any tube acttachment, suction is a lot better.See pictures.

Quick and easy cleanup for your fish tank.
I have to admit I waa a little skeptical about this vacuum but honestly it did the job quite well. My tank was beyond maintenance work with alot of decay and algae. Within a half an hour my tank almost looked brand new. Two things I wish this setup had was a bigger collection bag and a brush attachment to clean tank decorations. Really the only draw back is keeping an eye on the water going back in since without knowingly can end up on your lamp or on the floor. I love this setup and how easy it was to use.
