Dropping like flies.
I've been buying only LaCie 5TB drives for a couple of years, and I've had three die on me in the past six weeks. But like a dog to its vomit, I just keep coming back for more. They do really well...until they don't

My fourh LaCie and the Only Drive I've ever had fail
Very discouraging. After one short year-totally failed; my Desktop and two other Laptops can no longer can even find it. Disk Utility: nothing; not even showing it after multiple re-booting, shutting down the desktop, removing, reconnecting it or running Disc Utility. One day, while plugging another USB thumb drive in near where this LaCie was connected, I got a standard warning to do not disconnect the drive before ejecting it. The only possible thing I can think of was I must have brushed against it with my fingers, and it has been dead ever since. Nearly 2 TB of backups lost instantly, with one touch, and everything is gone. Apparently this drive is just Hopelessly over-sensitive to an accidental light touch that nearly any person could make. Painful lesson, and most disappointing experience with an external drive ever.
