Surprised how rugged it turned out to be!
Bought this auger to use to run a water pipe under a sidewalk where I did not want the mess of using a hose to blast out a channel under the concrete. The auger worked surprisingly well although I had to rig up an extension to make it all the way across. You just have to go slowly and frequently pull out the auger to allow debris ejection otherwise debris will accumulate in the hole and jam things up. After successfully completing the project I used the auger to help my wife plant bushes in the yard. Amazingly, the auger handled some pretty rocky and root filled soil. Yes, the hexagonal tip on the shaft sheared off but the shaft still chucked up in the drill. BTW I'm using a Milwaukee 18 v Fuel brush-less drill/driver for this with the T-handle attached. It is rugged enough to handle the punishment that would probably kill most 18v drills out there (I have no connection to Milwaukee just mentioning the brand of drill because it will take a lot of punishment). Be careful or you can strain your wrist if you hit a rock or snag. Just put the drill in reverse and then go at it again. So far I have dug 20 holes with it that are 2 feet deep and about 18 inches wide. After using the auger to loosen things up, I use a post hole digger to remove the dirt from the hole when it is 1 foot deep. Then I drill down the second foot and use the auger to loosen things up. Then add compost and fertilizer to the hole and use the auger to mix everything up. Then the plant goes in and the dirt removed in the first step is mixed with compost and fertilizer in a 5 gallon bucket with the auger and then used to fill in the gaps along the side of the plant. All the welds are solid and the shaft is still straight despite having taken a LOT of punishment. Pleasantly surprised at the effectiveness of this product and how much labor it has saved (along with my back)!

Be careful
Product works very well, just be REAL careful when using a large drill. If you happen to hit a rock or root just right it STOPS - but the drill does NOT. Ensure you have a quick reaction to let go the trigger of the drill or you can get a wrist injury. The paint on the shaft where it attaches to the drill should be removed before use in order to get a good, solid grip from the chuck. But overall, this unit saves a LOT of fencepost pounding when the soils are dry and/or hard. It's not failed yet to produce a proper hole for 6' t-posts..

Doesn't look very heavy duty but worked well!
It's not a good sign that the paint coating is flaked off on the tip ** right out of the box ** and the auger spiral is only tack welded at the tip and base, and a couple of random spots along the spiral. We will see how well it holds up - but considering the $$ cost, and this is listed as "improved" & heavy duty I'm not loving it.Update: some of the paint came off during use but this beauty did 700 holes for tree seedlings no problem.
