OWCEnvoy Pro 1A Portable, USB 3.2 (10Gb/s) Bus-Powered External Storage Enclosure for Mac SSDs Compatible with Select 2013 to 2019 Mac Models SSDs

I had a 240Gb OWC Aura N2 SSD that I was taking out of an older Mac Mini and thought it would be a perfect external backup drive for my wife's new Mac Mini. Unfortunately, the Apple SSD pin configuration is very different than the mainstream SSDs for PCs. This enclosure, also from OWC, works perfectly. While a bit pricey, it was super easy to install the SSD and get it formatted as a backup drive. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Works great. Excellent build quality. Can now use a Macbook NVME as an external drive. This might be the only product with the correct pins. Then used an APFS reader (like Paragon) to get my files out on a PC.

Doesn’t come with a T5 screwdriver, nor is there an alternative way to open it without doing so.

Good product, easy to install. Fit great for the ssd from MacBook Pro, format capability is great. Speed is reasonable. I hope it is a little cheaper.

I have a Samsung MZ-KPV1T00/0A4 1TB SSD and could not find a compatible enclosure.Contacted OWC via Amazon and this enclosure works.Note, you will need a Torx T5 bit to open the enclosure, as it's not included.Transferred 600GB of data overnight and there was no disconnect or speed issue.Would have preferred a USB-C connection port, and/or include a Micro B USB to USB-C cableProsOne of the few compatible drives I could find for this SSD from an old Apple MacBook from 2015.The build quality is solid and no rough edges on the aluminum.Heat dissipates along the body.Decent speed at ~720 read ~750 write.ConsThe connection only comes with Micro B USB connector to USB-A.I am able to use a USB-A to USB-C connector to plug into my MacBook.There is a Cable Matters Micro B USB to USB-C that I may pick up to use with the drive.The LED is rather bright when reading/writing.It's a decent price now for the enclosure and actually works with a non-standard SSD connection (Apple 12+16 pin)

This is a fantastic solid state drive enclosure for old MacBook SSDs. It is not a typical SSD enclosure - check compatibility with your Mac before purchasing.The case is machined aluminum that looks and feels nearly identical to Apple's aluminum. Other SSD enclosures for old MacBooks are almost the same price as this one, so definitely buy the OWC Envoy Pro 1A for its magnificent metal case.I upgraded an old 2015 MacBook Air (model A1466) to a larger SSD, and this enclosure is perfect for installing macOS on the new SSD as well as a permanent home for the old SSD when the upgrade is complete.

I have used this brand case before for other mac hard drives. Works great. Very stylish design.This unit unfortunately arrived without the torx T5 screw driver. (borrowed a T5 from a friend) Also the thermal pad is dry rotted. Would not release from the backing without crumbling. Otherwise, the case does what is should.
