J.K. Adams 17-Inch-by-14-Inch Maple Wood Kitchen Basic Cutting Board

I bought this six years ago and gave it hard use: we prepared all our meals on it, every day, for six years. It just split in two. However, for six years it was a perfect cutting board. It was just the right size, fit perfectly in the sink so I could wash it (and yes I towel dried it immediately after, always), didn't dull my knives, was hard enough so that it didn't score excessively from cutting. I have everything good to say about it and nothing bad. Yes, it would have been nice if it didn't split but most maples don't grow that wide so you'd have to put two boards together in any case, and that entails a natural weakness in the board that can't be avoided. I believe it's possible, if you have a very fancy joint, to avoid this split but I certainly did not pay for that kind of joinery. I contemplated contacting the company to cash in on their lifetime guarantee but frankly if you amortize the price over all my uses, that would be ridiculous. It was not an expensive board and I totally got my money's worth. It was a tiptop quality board _for what I paid_. I bought a second because it was a great board.

We've been using it for 4 months, pretty much daily, and so far it has held up well. We used butcher's block to season it (4 times before using it, and about once a month since - as needed)The wood is lovely and I love the size and thickness (I don't like larger cutting boards to be too thick - they get too heavy to manage). The maple wood is gentle on our knives.Wooden cutting boards require proper care. Other reviews mention warping/splitting... yes, wood will warp and/or split when continuously soaked with water. Seasoning the cutting board prevents water from penetrating the wood. This is not optional - it is required. If you you don't want to have an extra task or thing to think about related to your cutting boards then stay away from wood.

It warps like crazy even after adding a bunch of mineral oil. The glued together wooden rows have come apart too.

I ordered this in the 17" x 14." It's perfect for slicing bread.The board is about 1/2 inch thick. It's well-sanded and smooth. The edges are slightly curved. I like the thin profile. An inch thick would look nicer, but I only keep it on the counter while I'm using it. Besides, since it's only 1/2 inch thick, it's not so heavy it's cumbersome.It's a good board for a good price, and I do like maple. The board I received looks very like the photo on the product page.

The media could not be loaded.  The first board was fantastic for three weeks and then started splitting with hairline fractures and visible splits on the ends on and off the seams. I was able to return for full replacement and decided to go for the reorder replacement. So far the new board has been a top notch performer without any signs of fractures. I use it daily and clean as per the instructions/recommendations and air dry after wiping off any excess water. I have applied the board oil when needed. Without splits this is a fantastic prep board. I’m pulling for the win!

Perfect size for small or larger recipes. Haven’t used to cut raw meat, yet. Knives stay sharper longer. Quieter than glass cutting board I used for years. Glad I bought it. It did need cutting board oil to seal the grain. The oil deepened the color to a nice golden color and gave a nice surface.

Great cutting board for the money. The size is perfect and the wood grain is beautiful. I would recommend this product to everyone. Shipping time was pretty quick and it was very well packaged. The board is identical to the picture on the website. Total all experience, I would give them a A+++++++++++++++++++++ for a grade.

This board was the perfect size for a specific need we had in our kitchen. Reviews seems good so off we went.Within 2 days of owning this board, maybe 3 uses, it started to warp, and warp seriously. Within 1 week it was entirely split in two. We've owned many boards, both high end and low, and know how to care for them. Shocked at how quickly this split. Maybe just one bad board in the lot, but we'll certainly stay away.

Excellent quality cutting boards, I can definitely see that they would last a lifetime. I actually purchased them for the purpose of wood burning artwork onto them. They’re a good sturdy hardwood board!
