An excellent light-to-moderate hiking shoe, right out of the box
I have kidded myself for years that I don't need a wider shoe size--but those days are over--due to the need of an ortho insole for arch and footbed support, I need a wider shoe. Also, I have looked at Merrell and other brands as a high-quality walking and hiking shoe for years, but felt they were out of my price range. This shoe, at this price point, is FANTASTIC. Granted, you will not want to step off the plane and into a wedding reception at the country club with these on (maybe in Colorado?), but they are a solid, all-around shoe for hiking or standing at the airport. The shoe offers a serious Vibram tread, with the sort of support you find in a more expensive hiking shoe or boot; plus the uppers are really tight and water-resistant. As a person who's struggled with the smooth, tubular laces that have become popular on athletic and walking shoes, I found the laces on this shoe to be more textured--and thus, they actually hold a knot as long as you need it!! A final observation: I usually pull the factory insoles and use my own, but the set that comes with these shoes is thin enough, but rigid enough, that you need it. I opted for an $8 orthotic from the local supermarket that gave me a bit more arch support and a metatarsal "bump," and simply use those on top. Otherwise, there's not much shock absorption from the rigid tread-sole material. The combination is perfect, and since the uppers are leather, I can feel a real "breaking-in" period around my feet.

Great shoe!
I like these shoes. Comfy. Nice leather. Look great, can hike in them and then go to dinner at a restaurant. Don’t look like trail shoes. I bought them for travel in Europe. Size is correct. 10 is a ten. 👍

Quality shoe!
I'm using this pair of shoes for a winter trip to Japan, including a trip to Hokkaido where I expect snow and ice. The particular soles of these shoes have an outstanding record of traction on snow and ice. I bought these lace-up as opposed to the slip on version, because review of the latter suggested that they were tight for anyone with high arches and a high rise in the top of his food, making them difficult to get on. There were also some warnings in all the reviews (for both the lace-ups and slip-ons) about the shoe being a bit narrower that most customers would expect. I got a size larger than my own, and they fit perfectly. That is, there's just a tiny bit more room in the toe than I need, but they fit well otherwise. When first trying them on, they still felt a wee-bit tight initially; but after walking around in them for ten minutes, that impression gave way to the pleasure of complete comfort. The fabric out of which the top of the shoes is made lets them breathe easily. This means they aren't shoes that take a shine, like leather; but they are handsomely constructed and not only give the impression of high quality, but really are quality shoes. I'm delighted.

Solid for the money
Have owned one in brown and two in black (I prefer the brown, but I don't mind the black given they are often on sale). Solid shoe for hiking or walking, though I have to replace the insole for extra arch support (I do for most shoes). For me, the failure point is the inner heel fabric, once it's worn, the heel counter will rub and gotta toss them. If they were able to put in something more structural on the heel, these would be pretty bullet proof (for a shoe). My feet are roughly an 11EE, so I usually get a 12W and these fit great.

Fast shipping great deal!
I love these hiking shoes! Great fit/Feel/Comfortable and last pair lasted over a year wearing every work day + some Doing landscaping/construction/home chores! Still had life left just beat up looking! Don’t like boots so these are a great option if no steel toe needed! Been wearing these same style for over 5yrs. Other hicking shoes only last me a couple months then start to fall apart. Never had a sole separate on these. Only thing I have to replace on these mirrells are shoe laces about 4-6month in but I like my shoes laces snug! I get the waterproof ones for winter and non waterproof for summer(Feet sweat in waterproof style) can’t go wrong with these for any occasion.

Terrible Shoe
These have to be some of the worst trail shoes I've ever had. It feels like I'm walking on hard plastic stiff shoes almost like cycling shoes on rocks and even dirt. I bought these and have maybe used them maybe 3 or 4 times and each time I regret putting them on.

Great for walking and hiking but buy half size bigger.
Love the shoes, but they run a bit small should have bought half size bigger. Bought them before going on vacation where we were walking about 5 miles a day. I have bad feet always hurt but these shoes got me through our two week vacation and could not be happier. It’s now in the 20’s (Fahrenheit) and find them quit warm as well with just a pair of thin socks. Good traction on slippery surfaces too. Overall very happy, worth the money for sure…
