I'm going to award 5 stars for this hood, but I want to be clear about the trade-offs being made in this purchase. So, let's say you live in a nice house, but you want to upgrade your "builder-grade" under cabinet hood to match your new 36 inch gas stove. When I say, match your stove, I mean your hood has to be able to draw in the gases (fuel+CO), smoke and grease. Without a decent hood, your gas stove is going to be a source of pollutants, irritation to the lungs and even cause asthma (apparently). So a good range hood is essential. Now, I normally think of high quality appliances as being heavy and sturdy, with lightweight appliances being cheap. So, I was disappointed when I first lifted the feather weight package. I thought how can something so light be better than what I have? But, lighter materials allow cheaper shipping, which allows more technology. Frankly, this is the ONLY range hood I have seen with gesture controls, whereby you can simply wave your hand in front of the sensor and change the speed or turn on or off the lights. Wave left or wave right to go up or down in fan speed. For the low price, light weight item you are also getting 3 fan speeds instead of 2 from the big box stores. I use the lowest setting mostly, but if I use multiple burners I need to crank it up. It is relatively quiet and sounds 'smooth' like a fan without obstruction. Surprisingly it is advertised as 450 cfm, that is double the power of most of the similar priced hoods I am seeing. Now, I have no way of proving it is 450 cfm, but the high setting seems to be drawing a lot of air. You also get your choice between ducted (mine) or a ductless filtered system. I advise going ducted if you can, because it is less maintenance and the smells go outside rather than clogging a filter. Now, interestingly, this unit blows the Samsung model out of the water when it comes to actual surface area of the hood that draws air. The Samsung has a 30 inch model with about a 15 inch area that draws air. This one is much wider to (I think) draw more air. So, these factors are why I am giving it a 5 star review. I also saw that Comfee won a consumer award for some appliance, so the manufacturer seems legit. Yet, I still have reservations about the feather weight appliance that enables such great technology. Firstly, I have read the reviews before posting my own. Not one of the 11 reviews mentioned the gesture controls, but instead referred to the touch controls. I assume this is because the gesturing might take time to get used to (waving your hand instead of touching a button). But it might be because it isnt working. Indeed, when I first received my unit I was standing in front of the sensor (do not block the sensor) and my gesturing was inoperable. I ended up getting a replacement because I did not think gesturing worked. And in reality, it seemed to vary according to how fast/hard I waved my hand. And we have to wonder how often the smoke and grease will clog the sensors? I have no idea about that. I also worry about digital controls. How long will they last, as compared to manual controls? With all of this said, for the added technology and the more powerful cfm (which I think is safer as it pulls more exhaust out of the living area) and the wider area for the fan to operate as compared to competitors, I still give it 5 stars. I suppose the worst that could happen is needing to replace it after couple of years (it has a one year warranty). All up, it is kinda cool and a little awesome if you have appropriate expectations.

This item work’s very well compared to hardware store vents. It’s not as loud as expected, quite a normal noise level. Overall I’m happy with the product. It gives my kitchen a facelift because it looks great! My only downside is that I had to put micro holes into the mesh screen so it could circulate a little bit faster and doing that took stress of the motor bc this vent WORKS VERY POWERFULLY. I’m happy with the price of my product and hopefully it lasts awhile.

Es mi segunda vez comprando este mismo producto dejenme y les explico el primero mi esposo pulso el boton para disminuir la velocidad de extraccion del humo y al mismo tiempo pulso el boton de apagado razon por la cual lo quemo por lo que obtuvimos el segundo producto ahora con proteccion con un costo extra por si vuelve a suceder lo mismo, hasta el momento todo bien solo se le borraron algunas letras por limpialo pero su funcionalidad esta bien espero comprar en el futuro uno de dos ventiladores porque este solo trae uno y su foco. Si usted busca algo funcional para una cocina pequeña le recomiendo esta campana .le puse 4 estrellas porque no me resovieron nada acerca de la primera campana por no comprarle proteccion . Esperemos y este no termine igual.

We have an older model range and it is both black and white. You could go with either color of additional appliances this way which is nice. Our old hood was disgusting, didn't work well, and kept shorting out lights. My wife has not had a light over the stove in some time.Grabbed this one because of the value - and it sure did the trick.I will say, our first one arrived, I installed it, and the light kept going off and on, not like a flicker. Literally off, then on. It would stay on for a while, then off again. We contacted Amazon and thought they would have the seller send a new light for us to switch out - but Amazon sent a WHOLE NEW UNIT! AND they made it SO easy to return the other one.The new one arrived in a few days, too - very quickly. We hadn't even had time to send the first one back!Now, install for us was difficult - you may face what we did, too: THIS UNIT PLUGS IN, directly to an outlet. Our old model was hard wired into the wall. We had to have an outlet placed to be able to use the hood. We also had a conflict between the size of our vent pipe and the size AND POSITION of the vent hole on the top of the hood. There was no room for us to revamp the vent pipe in the cabinet above, so we chose the other option.A great plus on this model is the option to VENT OUT through the pipe, OR to vent in, by recirculating the air. We opted for recirculating which made it a ventless hood. We don't notice any different between that and the old one that vented out. In fact this new hood seems to recirculate better than the old one vented!It has three fan settings, too, which is nice.There are two things you will need to know: read the description carefully about the distance between range top and your hood unit. This is important because there are several pieces inside the hood that are plastic, while the older model was all metal inside. THIS could be an issue if you do a lot of high heat cooking.Other than that it is a lovely addition to our kitchen - the surface has an easy to clean, pebble texture or micro pebble, almost sand like texture to it.
