It performs as advertised.
I just tried my new 16 inch sledge hammer to split some firewood with a wedge and also with a standing splitter with ring. Result is there is a huge difference between a 14 inch and a 16 inch sledge even though they both have a 4 lb. heads. I am very pleased with it even though it was a little pricey but those two inches matter greatly with the impact force. The hammer looks well built and sturdy and the larger wood chunks have no chance of not splitting. Very much fun.

The Bash is one solid sledgehammer
I liked my Wilton Sledgehammer as it performed exceptional, so I purchased their hammers in other weights. The handles are incredible smooth to handle and absorb some of the hammering impact. Since the handles aren't made from wood, they won't warp or split over time. The steel heads are strong and haven't cracks or chipped to date. I've been using them in an open pit agate mine wherein I've been removing large rocks by splitting them with hammer and chisel. These are by far the best hammers I've ever used.I've read other reviews stating that the balance was off on certain hammers, but the real issue is: take care in selecting the appropriate hammer-head weigh versus the handle length for your applications and your own arm strength. If you use those parameters in selecting your sledgehammer, you will find the right item.I have not been paid by Amazon or Wilton to review these items favorably. I love this product line and will order other weights in the near future. They are expensive compared to other sledgehammers, but worth the price based on their superb quality and balance. Buying cheap is more expensive long-term, and quality tools outperform there cheaper counterparts in many instances.

As a mechanic, this hammer is perfect
Perfect weight and length to swing with one hand but still heavy enough to get the job done. Completely indestructible unless trying to prove a point. Been using one like is in the field for 7 plus years till I lost it and had to replace.

Last sledgehammers you'll ever buy
You may ask who needs a 10lb hammer with a short handle. IYKYK. If you've ever bonked the fender of a pretty truck with a long handle, it all makes sense. These BASH hammers have a great reputation for incredible durability. I needed to beat the stuffing out of some parts in a tight space, now it's done.

heavier and bigger than i thought but i just didn't realize...
great hammer! truly bullet proof a lot heavier than i realized but still pretty awesome.... if i would have bought it locally i would have been able to see and feel the weight may have bought a lighter one since im using this for work and i have to get my crew to use it as well.... but with the heavy weight it basically smashes everything in one hit.... I use it for concrete demo and with my other hammer it would take multiple swings, this is pretty much one swing one kill hammerpros: everything worth every penny!cons: a tad heavy for 20lbs it actually weighs 26lbs but still manageable... any heavier would be to much especially for all day useupdate 2024:I bought this in 2013 and its still in great shape this is the best sledgehammer ever made my kids and grand kids will inherit it! The only sledgehammer I have yet to break! its a beast! currently it cost more than I paid for it originally but I would not even question it if I needed another I would buy it. I am a general contractor and I have used it every time I needed a hammer, its not even weak its still going

General applications with limited space, but for me in Fire/Rescue.
Called a closet or hallway sledge, carried between my SCBA (self-contained breathing apparatus) waist belt and me, for breaking stuff. Choak up on it, it can be used one handed but at 24" there is enough room for 2 hands. For when there isn't enough room for a full-sized sledgehammer. Wilton says the rubber handle won't melt unless left in a fire.

Suspension work
Exactly what you want for suspension work. Made everything come apart in less than 3 hits on a GMC Sierra 2500HD. The one tool you can have that will pay for itself in time saved job after job. Excellent quality.
